After we tried to install CD, only the Learning Company Logo came onto the screen, and crashed the computer. (We had to turn off the computer from the outlet in order to escape the locked screen) Is this a bad CD at fault, or is it not compatible with computer?
(Customer was running the program in OS X Classic Mode.)

Resolution: After some playing around with this program, it appears that it is incompatible with the "Classic" environment in OS X; the incompatibility does not manifest itself in OS 9. If at all possible, I would recommend rebooting in OS 9 to run this program.
It runs fine in "real" OS 9. The Classic environment, unfortunately, is not perfect and doesn't run all OS 9 programs. It does, however, run most things fine. Educational software is a notable exception.
In case of lock-up at the splash screen, you can close it by Force Quitting the program and/or the Classic environment. Just press Command-Option-Esc. You can then press "Force Quit" and press "OK" on the dialog. (Both are the default buttons if it's difficult to read.) The program (and usually Classic as well) will then forcibly quit without harming any "native" applications or OS X.
