Integrating 3D Home Architect® 5.0 and 3D Home
Landscape® Designer 5 |
| |
After
purchasing 3D Home Architect® 5.0 and 3D Home Landscape® Designer 5,
you want to install and integrate the programs. This procedure
describes the process and the result that occurs when both programs
are installed. To integrate 3D Home
Architect® 5.0 and 3D Home Landscape® Designer 5, 3D Home Architect®
5.0 must be installed before installing 3D Home Landscape®
Designer 5. When the programs are installed in this order, 3D Home
Architect® 5.0 will be updated to version 5.1 during the 3D Home
Landscape® Designer 5 installation which integrates the two
programs.
All designs created in 3D Home Architect® 5.0 can be opened,
modified, etc. in Broderbund® Home Design® 5.1, which is the
integrated architect and landscape program. |
|
|
Opening Designs from Previous Versions |
| |
After
installing Broderbund® Home Design® 5.1, you want to know if designs
from prior versions of 3D Home Architect® and 3D Home Landscape®
Designer can be opened in Broderbund® Home Design® 5.1. The
remainder of this note describes which designs from prior versions
can and cannot be opened in Broderbund® Home Design® 5.1.
Designs from 3D Home Architect® 5.0 can be opened
in Broderbund® Home Design® 5.1. Once opened, the home design
(architect mode) can be modified. In addition, a landscape
(landscape mode) can be designed around the home design if desired.
Designs from 3D Home Architect® versions 4 and earlier cannot be
opened in Broderbund® Home Design® 5.1. If architect mode is
installed from 3D Home Architect® 5 or 3D Home™ Design Suite
Professional 5, the home design from 3D Home Architect® versions 4
or earlier must be redesigned in Broderbund® Home Design® 5.1. To
recreate the earlier designs, the older version of 3D Home
Architect® (4 or earlier) and Broderbund® Home Design® 5.1 can be
installed and running at the same time.
Landscape designs from previous versions of 3D Home Landscape®
Designer (4 and earlier) cannot be opened in Broderbund® Home
Design® 5.1. The landscapes must be redesigned using the landscape
mode in Broderbund® Home Design® 5.1. To recreate the earlier
designs, the older version of 3D Home Landscape® Designer (4 or
earlier) and Broderbund® Home Design® 5.1 can be installed and
running at the same time. |

Editing the Properties of Design Objects
|
| |
3D
Home Landscape® Designer includes an extensive object library that
can be used to add objects to your plans. The properties of the
objects (colors, size, etc.) included in the library can be edited
so you can customize the plan. This tutorial describes the process
of editing the properties of objects added to your plan.
Complete the following procedures as needed.
Adding Objects to a Plan
- Launch 3D Home Landscape® Designer and create a new or open
an existing plan.
- Click Insert from the top menu bar and select a type of
object to add to the plan (e.g., Fence), or click an object type
from the insert toolbar located to the left of the design
workspace. The objects of the selected type will appear on the
left side of the screen under the Catalog tab.
- Click the plus sign beside the desired object group (e.g.,
Stone).
- Click once on the desired object from the group to select
it.
- Move the cursor to the desired area on the plan to add the
object or to create the selected item such as a fence or wall.
NOTE: When adding multiple objects of the same type,
click once in the desired location for each object to be added.
- After adding or creating the desired object or objects,
right-click the mouse and left-click Finish. The object or
objects will appear on the plan.
Editing the Properties of Objects
The properties that are available to edit for an object depend on
the type of object. Properties outlined in this tutorial are Size,
Appearance, Quantity and Behavior. Additional tabs may be available
for other object types. For more information about other tabs that
appear under Properties, review the in-program help.
- Click the pointer tool located in the object toolbar. The
pointer tool icon is a white arrow.
- Move the cursor over the desired object in the plan and
click once on the object to select it. The object will appear
outlined in green.
- Right-click on the object and click Properties from the
drop-down menu. A window will appear showing the properties of
the selected object.
NOTE: If View Properties appears in the drop-down menu,
click away from the object and return to Step 2 to select the
object again.
- To change the size of the object, click the Size tab. The
Size tab generally includes a Type section (where the specific
object type can be selected) and a Properties section (where the
dimensions of the object can be specified).
- Under the Type heading (if present), click on the
desired type for the object. The options under the
Properties heading will change depending on the Type
selected.
- Under the Properties heading (if present), edit the
properties displayed as desired. Consider the following:
If an item has a check box, placing a check in the box
will select the option while removing the check will remove
the option.
If the item has measurements, these can be edited by
clicking once by the current measurement and typing the new
measurement. Measurements must be typed in the format
currently displayed in the window (e.g., 10 feet 2 inches
would be 10'2").
- To change the appearance of the object, click the Appearance
tab. The Appearance tab provides options to change the
materials.
- Under the Components heading, click the component of the
object to edit.
- Under the Material heading, click the desired material
for the selected component. The material will be displayed
on the object preview on the right side of the window.
- Repeat steps a-b for the remaining components to be
edited.
- To change Quantity information, click the Quantity tab and
enter the desired information into the fields provided. The
Quantity tab contains information that helps identify the object
as a material, such as the manufacturer and price. Some of the
information on this tab is used in quantity reports.
- To change the behavior of an object, click the Behavior tab.
The Behavior tab includes options that determine how the object
will appear in the plan. The options available depend on the
selected object.
- After editing the properties of the object as desired, click
OK to close the properties window for the selected object. The
selected changes will be applied to the object.
