event description is one line long.

Printing Issues
|
| |
When
attempting to print using Calendar Creator™ 8, some parts of the
calendar print incorrectly or the calendar does not print at all.
Outdated or corrupt printer drivers can cause this issue. In
addition, conflicts with the video driver or incorrect settings can
cause various printing issues. Troubleshooting these areas will help
to identify the source or sources of the issue.
To help resolve the issue, install a different
printer driver to emulate the printer, and select that printer when
printing from the program. The steps below describe changing the
printer driver.
NOTE: Contact the printer manufacturer for the driver or
drivers that will emulate the specific printer in use. There are
known printing issues on some systems when using the HP® DeskJet®
680C. If the printer is an HP® DeskJet® 680C printer, try the HP®
DeskJet® 550C printer driver for the emulation.
In some instances, depending on the system, you may be prompted to
insert the Windows® operating system CD or the System Restore or
Recovery CD when the procedure below is completed.
Printer Emulation: Changing the Printer Driver (Windows® 95/98)
- Click Start, select Settings and click
Printers. The Printers window will open.
- To add a printer, double-click the Add
Printer icon. The Add Printer Wizard dialog box will open.
- Click Next.
- When asked how the printer is connected to
the computer, select Local (if on a stand-alone computer), or
Network (if a network printer is available to several computers
simultaneously).
- Click Next. The window that opens will
display a list of printer manufacturers on the left side and the
corresponding models on the right side.
- Select the appropriate manufacturer and
model for the printer you are emulating and click Next.
NOTE: If you do not see the manufacturer or model in the
list, refer to the printer documentation, or contact the printer
manufacturer to determine another emulation driver for the
printer.
- In the screen that opens, configure the
port that the printer is attached to. (Most of the time, a Local
Printer will be attached to LPT1.) If a different LPT port or
alternate connection such as USB is used, select the appropriate
option and click Next.
- Name the printer or use the default
printer name. The opportunity to select this printer as the
Windows® default printer is also presented.
NOTE: If Yes is selected for the Windows® default option,
all Windows® applications will use this printer automatically.
Select No if a default printer in Windows® is already
designated, and this printer driver is for printing only when
using a particular program.
- Select Yes for the option to print a test
page.
- Click Finish. (If prompted, insert the
Windows® CD.) If the test page prints correctly, the new driver
that was installed is a valid emulation for the printer. With
the installation complete, the printer should appear in the
Printers window.
- Close the Printers window.
- Launch Calendar Creator™ 8 and try
printing using the new printer driver that was installed.
The information that follows identifies other
possible causes of print-related issues.
Font Reduction Feature Enabled
- Choose File from the menu bar and select
Preferences.
- Click the Overflow tab.
- Either uncheck the Reduce Font Size
option, or change the point size.
NOTE: This feature is designed to reduce the size of
event fonts, allowing more information to fit within a day cell.
If it is disabled, or the point size is set too high, some
overflow may occur.
Video Driver Conflict
Conflicts with video drivers can cause the Print Preview to display
improperly and may affect the printed output. The most common
results are reduced font size or changes in font style. Contact the
computer or video card manufacturer, or visit their website to
ensure that the most recent update of the video driver is installed.
Multi-function or Postscript Printers
Calendar Creator™ 8 is incompatible with most multi-function and
postscript printers. There are no resolutions for issues that occur
when printing using these printers. |
|
|
Sort Events by Priority on the Calendar
|
| |
All
events in Calendar Creator™ 8 are assigned a priority value of 1 by

The tutorial that follows describes the process.
To assign a specific priority to an event,
complete the following:
- Double-click within a day cell to access the Add Event
dialog box.
- In the Priority field, enter a number between 1 and 99.
NOTE: It is also possible to add a Priority to an existing
event by opening the Modify Event dialog box. Double-click on the
actual event text. The Add Event dialog window will open.

The method by which events are sorted is selected in the Layout
Object Properties dialog box. Complete the following steps.
- Right-click within a day cell that does not contain event
text.
- Select Properties from the menu.
- Click the Miscellaneous tab.
- In the Sort Events By: field, select By Priority (Up) or By
Priority (Down).
- Click OK to apply the selection and return to the calendar

.CSV Files Will Not Import from Outlook®
|
| |
Attempts to import .CSV files created in Microsoft® Outlook® into
Calendar Creator™ 8 are unsuccessful. In some instances an error
message may appear. An incorrect interpretation of the imported .CSV
file causes this issue and error. Calendar
Creator™ 8 is unable to interpret the format of the .CSV files
created in Microsoft® Outlook® because the time indicator includes
"seconds" and the dates are enclosed in quotation marks.
Additionally, the .CSV file data is not consistent in the column(s)
that appear in Calendar Creator™. As a result, the fields are
incorrectly assigned. |

Attempt to Access Dock Bar Past Its End
|
| |
After
attempting to open a calendar (.bcc) file, the following error
message occurs: "An attempt was made to access dock bar past its
end." This error generally indicates that the calendar file you were
attempting to open is corrupt. Using a backup (if a backup exists)
to replace the corrupt calendar file should resolve the issue.
Calendar Creator™ 8 creates an automatic backup
of each calendar collection file if the Backup option is enable.
NOTE: If the backup option was not enabled, a backup of the
file that generated the error message will not exist.
To replace the corrupt file using the automatic backup, follow the
steps below.
- Close Calendar Creator™ and return to the desktop.
- Double-click My Computer icon to open the My Computer
window.
- Double-click the C: (hard drive) icon.
- Double-click the Program Files folder.
- Double-click the Calendar Creator™ 8 folder. This folder
contains a file that has the same name as the calendar file that
generated the error. The file extension is .bak.
NOTE: For example, if the file that generated the error
message was named business.bcc, the backup file with the same
name will be business.bak.
- Double-click the backup file with the .bak extension. This
file is a backup of the calendar file.
- Click File on the menu bar and select Save Collection As.
- Rename the file. It is recommended to renamed the file with
a unique filename.
NOTE: This solution may not work in all instances. If the
auto-backup feature was disabled, there will be no *.bak file
available to rename. Additionally, the program may be unable to
restore files in instances of extreme file damage. |
