| Cluefinders Math Ages
9-12 helps students strengthen mathematical knowledge in multiplication,
division and geometry, as well as build computation, conceptualization
and problem-solving skills. Students become detectives to collect
information, deduce a suspect and determine a missing object and its

Basic Troubleshooting |
|
|
Basic Troubleshooting
- Make sure the customer's machine meets or
exceeds the program's minimum system requirements.
- Ensure that the Color Depth and Resolution are
configured to match the display settings stated in the Minimum
System Requirements. Do NOT set the resolution to 640x480 on a
Windows 98 machine. 800x600 is acceptable for most of our
programs, though it may not produce a full screen for the program.
- Close TSRs. Use Ctrl+Alt+Delete to open Task
Manager and close all applications except Explorer and Systray in
ALL Windows platforms except Windows 98 or Windows 98SE,
and Macintosh OS. In Windows 98 or Windows 98SE use MSCONFIG in
the Run line and deselect all the items in the startup folder (Do
NOT use MSCONFIG on a Compaq computer). In Mac OS configure the
system to use minimum extensions.
- After closing TSRs, uninstall and reinstall,
this ensures a CLEAN INSTALL of the software.
- Check the model, manufacturer, and properties
of the CD-ROM drive. Configure the CD-ROM drive to Sync Data
Transfer and set the Read Ahead Optimization to No Read-ahead.
Also, ensure that the File System line under the Performance tab
in System Properties says 32bit, and does not say Some drives are
using MS-DOS compatibility mode

CD Is Not Recognized |
|
|
By completing the procedures that
follow, the CD-Read issue may be resolved. Begin with item one and
proceed through the list.
- Verify that the correct CD is being used when
prompted to insert the disc.
- Clean the CD. Place a small amount of
nonabrasive, liquid soap on the shiny side of the disc. Using your
fingertips and warm water, gently rub the soap on the disc in a
circular motion. Rinse the disc thoroughly and dry it using a
clean, soft T-shirt or lint-free towel. Do not use paper towels or
tissue paper.
- Change the Read Ahead setting in the following
manner:
- Return to the desktop and right
click on the My Computer icon.
- Select Properties from the menu that appears
and click on the Performance tab in the Systems Properties
window.
- Click the File System button and click the
CD-ROM tab.
- Locate Optimize Access Pattern For:.
- Click the arrow to the right of the
information field and select the No Read Ahead option.
- Restart Windows®.
- Verify that the computer is utilizing a 32-bit
file system. In the Systems Properties window (found in Step 3
above), click the Performance tab. Verify that the File System
reads 32-bit. (If it reads anything else, contact the computer
manufacturer for installation of the proper CD-ROM or hard drive
drivers.)
- Verify that the most current version of the
driver for the CD-ROM drive is being used. Contact the computer
manufacturer for additional information.
- Try to use a different disc in the CD-ROM drive
to see if it can be read.
- If possible, insert the CD that is not being
recognized into the CD-ROM drive of another computer to see if the
issue remains

Correct Answer in the Village Store |

|
|
There are shelves where you place
the notepads. You might try to place all 12 (3x4) notepads in one
box. The correct way to answer the question is to place three
notepads in each of four boxes. |
