Cannot Find
BWCC.DLL |
While attempting to
start Kid Pix Studio™ Deluxe, the following message appears: "Cannot
find BWCC.DLL." A conflict between a program running in the
background or an antivirus program can cause this error to occur.
Closing background programs and disabling antivirus programs will
help to resolve the issue.
If you have installed the program and are experiencing difficulties
running it, complete the following procedure and try running the
program again. Close all programs that are running in the background
using the instructions below. |
Windows® 95
NOTE: Before closing any background program, consult the
computer manufacturer to identify which programs need to remain
running. In addition, disable any alternate desktops, antivirus
programs or utilities (Norton® Desktop, antivirus or utilities,
Tabworks, etc.). The procedure for disabling these may vary,
depending on the particular product. Some programs may display an
icon on the Windows® taskbar. If you are unsure how to disable a
particular program, contact the manufacturer of that product for
specific instructions. After disabling the antivirus program (if one
exists), close the background programs in the manner that follows.
- Press and hold the CTRL and ALT keys at the
same time. While these keys are pressed, tap the DELETE key once.
- Release the CTRL and ALT keys. A Close Program
window will open. (In it appears a listing of all of the programs
currently running on the system. For any installation using
Windows® 95 or Windows® 98, two programs must remain active:
Explorer and Systray.)
- Start at the top of the Close Program listing
and highlight a program by clicking on it once.
- Click the End Task button in the lower-left
corner of the Close Program window. (Do not click the Shut Down
button, as it will shut down the computer. This will start all
programs that have been closed, requiring that the procedure be
repeated from the beginning.) As a safety feature, only one
program can be closed at time. The Close Program window will close
each time the End Task button is selected. To continue, repeat
Steps 1 and 2 to reopen the Close Program window.
NOTE: Most programs will close with a single End Task
action. Some programs, however, will require that the End Task
button be selected again. If a message appears indicating that the
program is not responding, click End Task again and proceed.
- When only Explorer and Systray are showing in
the Close Program window, click the Cancel button.
- Launch Kid Pix Studio™ Deluxe. The issue should
be resolved.

Transferring a
Slideshow to Another Machine |
| You would like to move
your Kid Pix Studio™ Deluxe slideshow for editing or viewing on a
second computer. |
The images added to a
slideshow are not saved as part of the slideshow file itself. When
moving a slideshow file to a second computer, the images must also
be moved to the computer to be able to view or edit the slideshow
successfully. Additionally, the images must be saved using the same
path on the second machine as they were saved to on the original. It
is recommended to use the default save location of C:\KPSDLUX\MY PIX
(Windows®) or KID PIX STUDIO DELUXE:MY PIX (Macintosh®).
Alternatively, you can save a slideshow as a standalone file to be
transferred between computers. This standalone slideshow does not
require moving the images and can be viewed on a computer that does
not have Kid Pix installed. A standalone slideshow cannot be edited,
however. To save a completed slideshow as a standalone file, use the
steps that follow.
- Open the slideshow in Kid Pix Studio™ Deluxe.
- Click File.
- Select Save as Standalone.
- Select a name and save location for the
slideshow.
- Click OK.

Painting Text into a Picture |
|
After creating a
project, you want to use one or more of the Kid Pix Studio™ Deluxe
tools on the text in that project. This technical note provides
additional information and describes how to use Kid Pix Studio™
Deluxe tools on text. |
Text boxes are created on
a separate layer above the rest of a Kid Pix Studio™ Deluxe picture.
To use any of the Kid Pix® tools on the text, the text must be part
of a picture layer. Complete the following steps to add the text to
the picture layer.
- Launch the program and open the project that
includes text.
- Click Toolbox in the menu bar at the top of the
screen and select Paint Text to Background… from the list that
appears. The Paint Text to Background dialog box will appear.
- Select either of these two options:
 | Paint Active Text Box Only:
Paints to the background only the selected text box.
|
 | Paint All Text Boxes:
Paints to the background all the text in the picture. |
- After making the selection, click OK.

Evergreen Tree
in Background (Macintosh®) |
|
While using Kid Pix
Studio™ Deluxe on a Macintosh®, a large evergreen tree stamp appears
in the background of the work area. Your attempts to remove the tree
from the work area are unsuccessful. Using the program on a
Macintosh® operating system released after the program was released
may cause this issue. This technical note describes how to proceed. |
This is a known issue with
Kid Pix Studio™ Deluxe on certain Macintosh® computers and OS 8.5
(or higher). Unfortunately, there is no workaround or resolution.
NOTE: For Mac® OS 8.5 and later, the Broderbund team
recommends the most recent version of Kid Pix®. |
