Cannot Find
the Brown Sugar |

| While
collecting ingredients to make chocolate chip cookies, the program
asks you to "Find the Brown Sugar behind the Cookie Jar." Sometimes
a large mixing bowl is in front of the pink cookie jar, which makes
it difficult to "find the brown sugar." The
easiest piece of the cookie jar to click is the lid. Click the lid
of the cookie jar and the brown sugar should appear. |

Little Bear is
Missing |
| |
After
starting to play Little Bear™ Kindergarten Thinking Adventures™,
Little Bear does not appear and the screen areas where you normally
click are not accessible. This issue typically occurs when the
keyboard is pressed during the first screen transition. Restarting
the program using "Continue Game?" or "New Game?" should resolve the
issue. Restart the program using "Continue
Game?" or "New Game?" by completing the procedure that follows.
- Exit the program.
- Restart the program.
- In the screen that appears, select "Continue Game?".
- If, after returning to the last scene, there is still
nothing to click, exit the program and restart using the "New
Game?" option. The issue should be resolved.

Please Insert CD 1 Message Is Received |
| |
| In the
Shadow Play Activity, the message "Please Insert CD 1..." is
received despite the fact that CD 1 is already in the drive. This
issue is caused by allowing the program to remain idle during the
Shadow Play Activity. Remembering not to leave the game inactive
during the Shadow Play Activity should prevent this message from
appearing. After receiving the message,
restart Little Bear™ Kindergarten Thinking Adventures™. The issue
should be resolved. |

How to Advance Past Shadow Play Activity
|
| |
When
playing the Shadow Play Activity, you are unable to advance to the
next activity. Advancing to the next activity can be accomplished by
returning to the screen outside the cave.
Complete the following steps to advance to the next activity.
- After playing one round of the Shadow Play Activity, return
to the previous screen outside the cave.
- Position the mouse pointer on the right edge of the cave
entrance near the right edge of the screen.
- Click once to advance to the next activity.
- Continue playing the game.

Program Seems to Freeze at Beaver Pond |

| While
using Little Bear™ Kindergarten Thinking Adventure™, the program
seems to freeze. On some computers, the screen transition between
the Shadow Play Activity and the Beaver Dam Activity can take an
unusual amount of time (up to a couple of minutes).
Although it appears that the screen has frozen, do
not attempt to restart the program. Simply wait a little longer for
the next screen to load. After the screen loads, the program should
function properly. |

When Is an
Activity Complete? |

| After
installing and successfully playing Little Bear™ Kindergarten
Thinking Adventures™, you are unable to determine how long the
activity must be played before advancing to the next screen.
Recognizing certain program characteristics and changes should allow
you to continue with the next activity. When
the sequence of objects begins to repeat, the current round is
complete. Quit the activity and place the mouse near the right side
of the next screen. If the mouse pointer changes to a gold arrow,
click once to access the next activity. |

Where Is Dot-to-Dot Constellations Activity?
|

| The
Little Bear™ Kindergarten Thinking Adventures™ game includes a
Dot-to-Dot Constellations Activity. However, you do not know how to
access this active. The Dot-to-Dot
Constellations Activity is accessed by clicking the stars above the
campfire. |

How
to Access the Program Options |
| |
With
Little Bear™ Kindergarten Thinking Adventures™ successfully
installed, you would like access the program options. Access to
these options can be gained through the program's Preferences
selections. Complete the following
procedure to access the program options.
- Insert the Little Bear™ program cd into the CD-ROM drive.
(The program should start.)
NOTE: If the program starts, continue with Step 4. If the
program does not start, continue with the Step 2.
- While at the desktop, double-click the My Computer icon.
- In the My Computer window, double-click the Little Bear cd
icon. (This will activate the Autorun Screen.)
- In the opening screen, click the Parent's Guide button.
- Click the Preferences button.
- Click the Off buttons to disable the individual options.
- Continue with the program.

Program Freezes With Music Disabled |
| |
Little
Bear™ Kindergarten Thinking Adventures™ freezes, shuts down, or is
in a loop, which does not allow you to continue. Typically this
issue occurs with the music disabled and after the Help button was
clicked during an activity. Reactivating the music using the Program
Preferences should allow you to continue playing Little Bear™
Kindergarten Thinking Adventures™. Complete
the following procedure to enable the music and continue playing the
program.
- Insert the Little Bear™ program cd into the CD-ROM drive.
(The program should start.)
NOTE: If the program starts, continue with Step 4. If the
program does not start, continue with the Step 2.
- While at the desktop, double-click the My Computer icon.
- In the My Computer window, double-click the Little Bear cd
icon. (This will activate the Autorun Screen.)
- In the opening screen, click the Parent's Guide button.
- Click the Preferences button.
- Click the Music On button.
- Slide the Volume Slider control all the way to the left by
using the mouse. (This will turn the sound down while allow the
sound to remain active.)
- Run the program. The issue should be resolved.

256 Colors

Little
Bear™ Kindergarten Thinking Adventures™ requires that the Colors
(Windows® 98) or Color Palette (Windows® 95) setting be set to 256
Colors. (This is a minimum requirement of the program.) Following a
step-by-step procedure will allow you to change the setting or to
verify that 256 Colors is chosen as one of the Display Settings.
Complete the following procedure to change the
color settings to 256 colors.
- Click Start, choose Settings and then click Control Panel.
- Double-click the Display icon.
- In the Display Properties window, select the Settings tab.
- Near the bottom-left portion of the window, under Colors
(Windows® 98) or Color Palette (Windows® 95), click the
drop-down menu and choose 256 Colors.
- Click Apply near the bottom-right portion of the window.
- Choose Yes if asked, "Do you want to restart the computer?"
NOTE: If 256 Colors is not an available setting, contact the
computer manufacturer for additional assistance and information. |

Auto-Installation Does Not Begin |

After
inserting the Little Bear™ Kindergarten Thinking Adventures™ disc
into the CD-ROM drive, the Auto-Run feature of the computer does not
start the installation. Installing the program manually will resolve
the issue. Follow the steps below to
complete a manual installation of the program.
- Verify that the proper CD is inserted into the CD-ROM drive.
- Click Start and select Run. The Run dialog box will open.
- Type X:\SETUP.EXE in the Open: field, where the X represents
the letter that identifies the CD-ROM drive.
- Click OK. The installation of the program should begin.
- Follow the prompts to complete the installation.

CD Is Not
Recognized |
| |
After
inserting the CD into the CD-ROM drive when prompted, the CD is not
recognized. Any number of the following conditions may cause this
issue: wrong CD is being used, CD needs cleaned, CD-ROM drive
settings require changes, or the CD-ROM driver is corrupted,
outdated, or the wrong one. By completing
the procedures that follow, the CD-Read issue may be resolved. Begin
with item one and proceed through the list.
- Verify that the correct CD is being used when prompted to
insert the disc.
- Clean the CD. Place a small amount of nonabrasive, liquid
soap on the shiny side of the disc. Using your fingertips and
warm water, gently rub the soap on the disc in a circular
motion. Rinse the disc thoroughly and dry it using a clean, soft
T-shirt or lint-free towel. Do not use paper towels or tissue
paper.
- Change the Read Ahead setting in the following manner:
- Return to the desktop and right click on the My Computer
icon.
- Select Properties from the menu that appears and click
on the Performance tab in the Systems Properties window.
- Click the File System button and click the CD-ROM tab.
- Locate Optimize Access Pattern For:.
- Click the arrow to the right of the information field
and select the No Read Ahead option.
- Restart Windows®.
- Verify that the computer is utilizing a 32-bit file system.
In the Systems Properties window (found in Step 3 above), click
the Performance tab. Verify that the File System reads 32-bit.
(If it reads anything else, contact the computer manufacturer
for installation of the proper CD-ROM or hard drive drivers.)
- Verify that the most current version of the driver for the
CD-ROM drive is being used. Contact the computer manufacturer
for additional information.
- Try to use a different disc in the CD-ROM drive to see if it
can be read.
- If possible, insert the CD that is not being recognized into
the CD-ROM drive of another computer to see if the issue
remains.
