Take
command of the Rock Raiders team
Stranded in orbit around
an uncharted planet, the crew of the LMS
Explorer must establish a base camp beneath
the planet’s surface. Beware, danger lurks
everywhere! Avoid Rock Monsters and natural
hazards as you lead the Rock Raiders team in
a quest to mine enough Energy Crystals to
re-power the ship and get the Rock Raiders
home. In this game of action and strategy,
you’ll have to be smart to survive.

Rock Raiders crashes to the desktop at the ending of loading. |
| |
Make sure
that the computer has the latest drivers installed for the graphics
card and sound card.
Also try going to START, PROGRAMS, LEGO MEDIA, and SELECT VIDEO
CARD. If you have one of the graphics cards listed other than
default- for example Voodoo2 or Savage3D then choose that option. If
the video card in the PC is not listed then leave the Video card set
on Default and try the steps listed below.
1. Right-click on the Rock Raiders desktop icon. Important - select
the correct icon for the game that you are running. Right-click on
the Enhanced shortcut if you are using the Full Sound icon, or on
the Standard shortcut if you are using the lower memory version.
2. From the menu that appears choose Properties using the left mouse
button.
3. On the Properties window find the target box, it should read
'C:\Program Files\LEGO Media\Games\Rock Raiders\LegoRR.exe'
4. Click in the target box with the left mouse button and then press
the End key, so that the cursor moves to the end of the line.
5. Press the Space bar and type -ftm to the end of this line so that
it becomes for example 'C:\Program Files\LEGO Media\Games\Rock
Raiders\LegoRR.exe' -ftm ; do not delete any other commands eg
'-best' simply add the ftm to the end of the line.
6. Click on APPLY and then OK (or possibly CLOSE).
7. From now on Rock Raiders must always be run from this modified
desktop icon. If the game is removed and re-installed this icon must
be changed again. |
|
|
The game lockes
up at the splash screen. |
| |
| If you have a CD Writer
then you must install and run the game through a normal CD-ROM or
DVD drive because Lego Rock Raiders has a copy protection program on
it which prevents CD Writers from reading the CD. If you do not have
a CD Writer, then CTRL-ALT-DEL and END TASK on all programs except
EXPLORER and SYSTRAY. This will free up some of your system
resources. Once this is complete try to reinstall the game again. |

The textures
seem corrupt during the game |
Check to make sure that
the latest graphics drivers are installed. On certain graphics cards
we have found that textures may appear corrupt. Some graphics cards
come with utilities allowing the user to alter texture memory.
Raising or lowering the texture memory can also sometimes improve
game speed.
If altering the utilities for your graphics card doesn't improve the
performance, you can try one of the following command-line
instructions. To add these lines:
1. Right-click on the LEGO Rock Raiders icon on the desktop and
select Properties.
2. Be sure to select the correct icon for the game that you are
running.
3. Select the Enhanced shortcut if you are using the Full Sound
icon, or on the Standard shortcut if you are using the lower memory
version.
4. You will now see the Target line. Click in this box and press the
END button to reach the end of the line. Now add a space and then
add one (or more) of the following lines.
- ftm (This makes your video card use all available texture memory)
- fvf (This can overcome 'fogging' on certain cards)
- reward (This disables the animation on the reward screen)
- nomanagement (This disables texture management for Voodoo2 based
cards)
- nosound (This will remove ALL sound except for video sequences in
the game)
For example if you wuold like to disable the animation and remove
sound for the game the target line should read:
'C:\Program Files\LEGO Media\Games\Rock Raiders\LegoRR.exe' -reward
-nosound |

The game takes a long
time to start |
| |
| The game can take a
while to start, this is because of the way that the game has been
designed to set itself up and the size of the program itself. As
long as your progression bar is moving at the bottom of the
computer, the game is working. |
|
|
The
game runs slowly with at 32 MB of RAM on my PC. |
| |
| On 32MB machines Rock
Raiders may run slowly due to the in-game audio help. To overcome
this the game creates two shortcut icons on the desktop. The first
for 32 MB users- is called ROCK RAIDERS STANDARD while 64 MB+ users
should run the ROCK RAIDERS ENHANCED version. You can also choose
the desired version from the START, PROGRAMS, LEGO MEDIA, ROCK
RAIDERS path. |

|
How do I save the game? |
| |
| You can't save the game
during a mission, only during the Mission Complete screen. Once the
score has been displayed a disk icon will appear at the bottom left
hand side of the screen. Click on this to go to the save game menu. |
