Issue Choosing the French or Spanish Option
Description  
Solution Madeline™ Rainy Day Activities includes a French and Spanish option. These instructions will help locate and use these option, as well offer information on switching to a different language while using the Madeline™ Rainy Day Activities program.
  1. Launch the program.
     
  2. From the Main screen, move the cursor to the bulletin board on the right-hand side.
     
  3. When the mouse cursor changes to a French and Spanish flag, click the mouse to go to the Matching Game. The Matching Game screen will appear.
     
  4. In the Matching Game screen, click the Options button located above the red Quit button on the right side of the screen.
     
  5. To switch to French, click the "Objects En Français" button.
     
  6. To switch to Spanish, click the "Objects En Espańol" button.
     
  7. After making a choice, continue using the Madeline™ Rainy Day Activities game.
 
Issue Program Will Not Install
Description  
Solution Some Madeline™ titles install a demo version of Madeline™ Classroom Companion 1st & 2nd Grade, which can interfere with future installations of Madeline™ programs. Removing these demo versions should allow Madeline™ Rainy Day Activities to install properly. Complete the following steps to uninstall the demo versions of Madeline™ Classroom Companion 1st & 2nd Grade.

NOTE: The following instructions assume that the demo versions were installed to the default directory. If these were installed to a custom directory, adjust the instructions to reflect that directory.
 
  1. Close all programs and windows and return to the Windows® Desktop.
     
  2. Double-click the My Computer icon.
     
  3. Double-click the hard drive (C:) icon.
     
  4. Double-click the Cwonders folder.
     
  5. In the window that opens, click the Mccs folder once to highlight it.
     
  6. With the Mccs folder highlighted, press the DELETE key on the keyboard.
     
  7. Install the Madeline™ Rainy Day Activities program.
 
Issue 256 Colors Required
Description  
Solution Madeline™ Rainy Day Activities requires that the Colors (Windows® 98) or Color Palette (Windows® 95) setting be set to 256 Colors. (This is a minimum requirement of the program.) Following a step-by-step procedure will allow changing of the setting, or verification that 256 Colors is chosen as one of the Display Settings. Complete the following procedure to change the color settings to 256 colors.
  1. Click Start, choose Settings and then click Control Panel.
     
  2. Double-click the Display icon.
     
  3. In the Display Properties window, select the Settings tab.
     
  4. Near the bottom-left portion of the window, under Colors (Windows® 98) or Color Palette (Windows® 95), click the drop-down menu and choose 256 Colors.
     
  5. Click Apply near the bottom-right portion of the window.
     
  6. Choose Yes if asked, "Do you want to restart the computer?"
NOTE: If 256 Colors is not an available setting, contact the computer manufacturer for additional assistance and information.

Description  
Solution Default Program Paths. the program files can be found in the following locations. Setup Path: D:\Setup.exe

Start Menu Location: Programs/Creative Wonders/Madeline

Issue Auto-Installation Does Not Begin
Description  
Solution After inserting the Madeline™ Rainy Day Activities CD into the CD-ROM drive, the installation does not begin. Installing the program manually will resolve the issue. Follow the steps below to complete a manual installation.
 
  1. Verify that the proper CD is inserted into the CD-ROM drive.
     
  2. Click Start and select Run. The Run dialog box will open.
     
  3. Type D:\SETUP.EXE in the Open: field. (The letter D represents the CD-ROM drive. If a different letter represents the CD-ROM drive, use that letter in the Open: field.)
     
  4. Click OK. The installation should begin.
     
  5. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation.
 
Issue Not enough disk space
Description
When attempting to install Madeline, Cluefinder or Reader Rabbit titles, the message "Not enough disk space" appears. I have more than enough space. (This typically occurs when attempting to install the program to a hard drive that is larger than 2 GB.)
 
Solution Follow the procedure below to install the program.

1. Place the Program CD into the CD-ROM drive. Allow time for the CD-ROM drive to start up. If auto-install begins, skip to Step 5. (If auto-run does not begin, continue with the next step.)

2. Click Start and select Run. The Run dialog box will appear.

3. Type D:\Setup.exe in the Open: field and click OK. (If the CD-ROM drive containing the CD is represented by a different letter, replace D with that letter.)

4. Click Yes to install the program.

5. When the Welcome dialog box appears, click Next. The Software License Agreement will appear.

6. Click Yes, if you agree to the terms of the agreement.

7. **HERE IS THE IMPORTANT STEP** : At the Choose Destination Location, PRESS AND HOLD DOWN the CTRL key and click Next with the your mouse. The Select Program Folder dialog box will appear. (This by-passes the disk check)

9. Release the CTRL key and follow the on-screen prompts to continue installing the program.
