I clicked the “Save as PDF” button in Microsoft Word, but nothing happened.  What do I do now?

Description

Solution

This option was slated for use in the final version of the program, but was not completed in time for release. You can turn off this button by going into Word, clicking "View", "Toolbars", and unselecting "PDF Master".

In order to save a file in PDF format, you must use the print feature.  For detailed instructions please refer to “What is PDF QuickConverter Pro?” & “PDF QuickConverter Pro- Printer” selections within “help” located in the program on the toolbar.

Issue

The program was working fine at one point, but no longer works now.

Description

Solution

There is a possibility that the program preference file has become corrupted. We have created a patch that will revert the preference file to a default setting, and should allow the program to work properly.

Patch QSPDFPatch.exe(58k)

Issue

Quickstart PDF Quick Convert Pro doesn’t work in Windows Vista.

Description

This is due to the “User Account Control” or “UAC” security feature in Windows Vista.

Solution

Completing the following is the only method of running the program in Windows Vista with “UAC” enabled.

Step 1, Setup (You will only need to complete the following one time):

1.  Navigate to Start > Control Panel > Printers

2.  Right click “PDF QuickConverter Pro” and select “Run as Administrator” > “Open.”

3.  In the printer window, click “Printer” and select “Properties.”

4.  Click the “PDF Settings” tab

5.  Click the dot that states “Save PDF Documents as a file in specified directory”, and  choose the directory you would like to save your documents to underneath.

6.  Click “OK” and close the printer window.

Note: If you don’t see a “PDF QuickConverter Pro” printer within the printer control panel, please open a new support case.

Step 2, Using Quickstart “PDF” printer when Vista “UAC” is enabled (“UAC” is enabled by default):

In order to save a document in PDF format, you must run whatever program it is that you’re saving from, in Administrator mode.

For example: If you want to convert a “Microsoft Word” document to “PDF” format, you must run “Microsoft Word” in Administrator mode.

How to run a program in Administrator mode:

Instead of double-clicking a program icon, you must right click it and select “Run as Administrator.”  The “UAC” dialog box will then appear asking if you would like to allow the action; click “Allow.”

You must perform this action whenever you would like to convert a document to “PDF” format.

Note: You can right click and select “Run as Administrator” on any program icon whether it resides within a folder, on your desktop, or in the “Start” menu.

Step 3, Saving a document in “PDF” format:

1.  Within whatever program you’re converting from (i.e.: Word, Excel, Internet Explorer) click “File” and select “Print.”

2.   Within the printer dialog box, select “PDF QuickConverter Pro” as the printer.

3.  Click “Print” or “OK” or whatever button will start the print job.

4.  The document should now be saved as a “PDF” in the selected directory you chose, from the “Setup” instructions above.

If the steps above do not resolve your problem, please open a new support case.
