Issue Playing the Game Again
Description After completing the Reader Rabbit's® learning activities, you want to play through the learning activities again using the same user name. Removing that user name from the sign-in screen will allow you to sign in again with the same name. In addition, using a different name when you sign in will allow you to repeat the activities.
Solution Complete the following steps to remove a name from the sign-in screen:
  1. Click once on the name of the player to be removed.
  2. Press and hold the CTRL key (Windows®) or Control key (Macintosh®) while you tap the R key on the keyboard.
  3. Release the CTRL (or Control) key.
  4. Click Yes when asked, "Are you sure you want to remove [the selected name] from the list?" This should remove the original name and data file.
  5. Launch the game and sign-in using the name that was removed.

NOTE: Another way to gain access to the learning activities is to use a different name at the sign-in screen.

Issue Unable to Use CD 2
Description When you attempt to use CD 2, the following message appears: "In order to use the Personalized Learning Center, you must install a Reader Rabbit or Clue Finders product enhanced with the ADAPT Learning Technology and have at least one user signed in."
Solution CD 2 will operate properly only if CD 1 has been installed and you have signed into the program as a user at least once.

When CD 1 is installed and you sign into the program, the program creates a PLAYER.DAT file. When CD 2 is initialized and attempts to install, the Setup program for Personalized Learning Center searches your hard drive for a PLAYER.DAT file. The CD 2 installation will abort if a PLAYER.DAT file is not found.
Issue Screen Flashes or Corrupt Display
Description While running Reader Rabbit® Personalized Preschool™ (ADAPT) , the screen may flash during transitions. Alternately, other display corruptions may appear. This issue may be due to installing Macromedia® Shockwave. During the installation of that application, another background application is also installed. It is called Shockwave Remote or Shockwave Init. These are the instructions for resolving the issue. The Shockwave Init shortcut will be removed from the Startup folder.
Solution
  1. Click Start, select Settings, and then Taskbar & Start Menu.
  2. Click the Start Menu Programs tab.
  3. Click the Remove button.
  4. Double-click the Startup folder.
  5. Select the Shockwave™ Init shortcut icon.
  6. Click the Remove button.
  7. Restart your computer.
  8. Run Reader Rabbit® Personalized Preschool™ (ADAPT) and the issue should be resolved.
Issue Error: Can Not Find ASSESSMENT.BMP
Description While attempting to install or run Reader Rabbit® Personalized Preschool™ (ADAPT), a message appears as "Can not find ASSESSMENT.BMP." This message usually indicates that the CD-ROM drive is using a 16-bit driver or another inappropriate driver.
Solution Check Device Manager for the CD-ROM listing and determine if the driver needs to be updated.
  1. Right-click the My Computer icon.
  2. Select Properties from the menu.
  3. Click the Device Manager tab.
  4. The second listing from the top should be CD-ROM.
  5. If the listing is missing, then a 32-bit driver is not loaded for the CD-ROM.
  6. If the listing does not match the actual CD-ROM model installed in the machine or is a generic listing (ATAPI or EIDE), then a more appropriate driver may be required to properly read the CD.
  7. Contact the manufacturer of your computer for assistance.

  2. Double-click the Display icon.

  5. Click Apply near the bottom-right portion of the window.
